The Giving Season

October 10, 2018

As the holiday season quickly approaches we are reminded about the importance of giving back. As a company, we have always focused on doing good for a great cause. Much like elephants, we find our community to be a great source of inspiration; it's where we live, grow and most importantly, help others.

"Ivory Ella is about the community, both locally and globally. When there is an opportunity to help and we can, we want to. Giving back to education and the community is important to our employees. Volunteer days like this help us reinforce our mission." - Matt Fiano, Ivory Ella Co-founder.

Today, October 10, our team will provide 350 brand new coats to children in need at John B. Stanton Elementary School located in Norwich, CT. It is our job to personally fit each child with a brand new winter coat in their favorite color and help them write their name in the interior tag which reads, “Made Just for You.”

This will be our third year in a row partnering with nonprofit Operation Warm to provide new coats to children in need. More than one in four children in Norwich, CT, live in families with incomes below the federal poverty line. Necessities like warm winter clothing can be hard to come by when food, housing, heat and healthcare take priority.

Our Co-founder, Matt Fiano, has a previous teaching career in the Norwich School District and his excitement for this opportunity has inspired many other Ivory Ella employees to give back. As a team, we work together to make a difference and encourage others to do the same.

"As a former educator, this event really hits home for me. So many many factors can affect a child’s life and their ability to get a proper education. People don’t often realize how frequently food, clothing and shelter are main concerns for kids. Every little bit helps towards easing their minds and allowing them to focus on school. Additionally, it’s one less thing a parent needs to worry about to provide for their child." -Matt Fiano

This story is important for us to share because we want our younger audience to be inspired. By giving back, we are given the power to positively impact someone else's life. Like elephants, we are each a keystone within our community; by caring for others we are making the world go round. Any gesture, no matter how big or small, can go a long way and we hope you carry that thought with you as the holiday season gets closer.

"I know first hand how much this type of donation will be able to help these students and families. It means a lot to be able to go back to a place that did a lot for me and help them in some way. This is what its all about." -MF
