A few months ago, one of our memorable fans, Lauren Clements - founder of Lauren's Care Baskets - reached out to introduce us to her dear friend Megan Bugg @megan_bugg7, an Ivory Ella super-fan who recently relapsed in her fight against cancer.
Ivory Ella got to know Megan [during her recent weekend visit to our HQ], as the resilient 16-year-old she embodies; one that has rededicated her life to beating childhood cancer while simultaneously spreading its awareness.
"It's so important to me that people understand what childhood cancer is like. It's not just cute little bald kids smiling. That's not what it is. We get 3.8% of all cancer funds and it needs to be out there more because I strongly believe that kids are our future."
The past two and a half years have been an arduous battle for Megan since she was diagnosed at age 13 with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma; a cancer that many of us couldn't even fathom. Megan's journey personifies her will power to never give up and how to use one's voice in the greatest of magnitudes. She is dedicated to the fight, the hope, and most importantly - to turning a negative into a platform of change. We are honored to share her story and look forward to helping support childhood cancer this September during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
"I am Megan,” she says. "I want to be known as me.” To continue to follow Megan’s story subscribe to her blog as told by her father: Megan Bugg's Journey. To support Megan, her family and her mission stay tuned for an exclusive Ivory Ella t-shirt designed by Megan herself.
